What is Included: Course fee of approximately $3000 (charged to student account) will include airfare, lodging, most meals, ground transportation, ISIC card, Berea College insurance rider and summer fees.
What is not Included: Total budget should also take into account fees for passport, immunization(s), books, spending money, an additional $700 for a total of $3700.

Application Instructions


To apply to this course, you must complete the online BIST Application no later than 15 October 2012 (late applications may be considered on a space-available basis). Before submitting the application, please read the following instructions:


  1. If you have not done so already, create an Abroad Office account. You will need to log in before you can apply to this course and submit the required forms.

  2. Write a one-page, single-spaced essay explaining why you want to participate in this particular Berea International Summer Term (BIST) course, including what you hope to gain from it and what you have to offer (eg, relevant background). Be thoughtful in what you write, since this essay will weigh heavily in the selection process. Save your essay as a Word document and upload it into the online application.

  3. Request that an electronic copy of your academic transcript be sent to Ann Butwell. (Request transcript by e-mailing or dropping by the Student Service Center in Lincoln.)
